Natural Herbs to Protect Our Eyes

Eyes are windows to our soul. Eyes are most cherished sense organ which we have as God’s gift. So, we need to take proper care of them always. Eye problems go slowly so people do not realize it, when conditions get worse it gets noticed. So good food, healthy herbs are best to be used or applied so that it prevents your eyes from diseases. You can also find healthy food for your eyes in my blog.

Eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis)- You can find herbal or ayurvedic eye drop with this component. Even homeopathic eye drops have this. This herb lowers the blood sugar level, which protects eyes of diabetic patients. It protects eyes from itchiness, conjunctivitis.

Coleus (Coleus forskohlii)- If you have fluid in your eyes and high pressure in your eyes, this herb is helpful. It has forskolin which reduced the pressure thus helps to treat glaucoma.

Cannabis (Cannabis sativa)- The name comes from its ingredients cannabinoids, this is used in eye drops, this reduces eye pressure and is helpful for a glaucoma patient.

Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba)- This magic herb improves blood flow to your eye. It improves retina health. This is also helpful for a glaucoma patient. It has antioxidants which protect nerve cells of your eyes.

Green tea (Camellia sinensis)- Nowadays extremely popular among all for weight reduction, but do you know this is healthy even for your eyes? The anti-oxidants present in it, help to keep your eyes free from any free radicals and protect your eyes from any chronic eye disease. It is beneficial for glaucoma patients. The polyphenols present in it protects your eyes from harmful UV rays; you can say green tea is sunscreen for your eyes. It also prevents cataract.

Garlic(Allium sativum)- The antioxidants present in helps to prevent cataract.

Turmeric (Curcuma longa)- The famous age old herb has curcumin antioxidant combined with vitamin E is a boon for your eyes. It prevents from cataract. So, have a lot of turmeric in food and with milk.

Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus)- Berries are a powerhouse of flavonoids named anthocyanins. The huge amount of antioxidant present improves eye sight, improves night vision. It also prevents eye fatigue. Have lots of blue berries, cranberry and all another type of berries.

The most common eye diseases are cataract, glaucoma, muscular degeneration and Diabetic retinopathy. All these happen due to poor blood circulation, elevated blood glucose level and stress, excessive exposure to sunlight, excessive smoking, alcohol, growing age and long use of various medicinal steroids. So to prevent these we need to eat healthily and include these herbs as medicine in our daily life.
